To recognize industry's contributions to society, the Southeastern Region of the ACS is proud to initiate the Industrial Innovation Awards and the Environmentally-Significant Product/Process Awards. A special ceremony honoring the award recipients and their companies will take place on Thursday, November 5, 7:00-9:00 p.m., at the Crystal Coast Room, Sheraton Imperial Hotel and Convention Center. The Southeastern Region of the ACS salutes these innovators of industry! The winners' exhibits will be on display in the SERM EXPO area November 5-6. For the commercial development of  acibenzolar-S-methyl, a plant activator that triggers a systemic activated resistance within plants to a variety of pathogens.   It is the first plant health management tool that induces a plant's natural defense mechanisms to enhance plant health and ward off diseases.

For the silver-catalyzed epoxidation of butadiene to epoxybutene with extremely high selectivity and virtually no over-oxidation.

Environmentally Significant Product Award  - Albright & Wilson Americas

For the development and commercialization of a phosphonocarboxylate mixture specifically formulated for use as a corrosion inhibitor in industrial cooling systems.

Environmentally Significant Process Award - Allied Signal Fibers

For the novel process to recover a high quality monomer from post-consumer waste carpet.
